Today Steve Ackerman visited the DLS to try out the mimeo pad with camtasia. Steve thought this was successful and he plans to try this out in class tomorrow morning. He will enter a blog entry about his results.

Steve came to the DLS this morning. Andy Arcadipane, Chris Pahud, and Mary Simone, and I, worked on issue with using Mimeo to annotate within Camtasia. Steve has an IBM ThinkPad T60, 1.83 GHz CPU, Windows XP, 3 GB RAM– the only errors were found while simultaneous usage of MimioStudio Notebook and Camtasia; a flickering of the cursor. This is most likely due to insufficient HDD speed, or memory constraints.

Steve has a work-around where he will pause relay, annotate in Mimio Notebook, then activate a relay to record annotation. Also, using the Mimio cursor instead of the Windows cursor makes it easier to Steve to navigate the screen. We discovered that he needed to upgrade the Mimio software from 7.0 to 9.2 in order to activate the handwriting and shape recognition. Steve enjoyed using this feature.

The Splashtop App for the iPad turns your iPad into a Mimio-like whiteboard. Here are the steps to get started:

    1. Download and install Splashtop Streamer onto your PC or Mac
    2. Download and install Splashtop Whiteboard onto your iPad(Splashtop Whiteboard includes Splashtop Remote Desktop)
    3. Fire up Splashtop Whiteboard and connect to your computer over Wifi
