Alumni Spotlight
Liliana Jiménez
Occupation: Emergency room nurse at Children’s Hospital Boston
Assistant Dance Instructor/Performer at Rumba y Dance Company
Year(s) you were in ALERTA: FOREVER!!!
School while you were in ALERTA: Blackstone Elementary School
Greatest ALERTA Memory: Being in charge of my mother (who is a teacher
for ALERTA) for the times Mary Lynda or Katie could not be in the office. Never
thought I’d have the chance to be her boss!
Worst ALERTA Memory: I have none. I can’t recall a bad time in ALERTA. The
staff and the kids are amazing and always made my day somehow.
ALERTA’s contributions to your life: ALERTA has made me realize how much I love working with children. I also love teaching them. It gave me the push to follow my passions and dreams because I gained the tools needed to do so with this program being a part of my life. The mentors are amazing and inspiring as
well, and I want to be that to my students and patients.
Advice for current ALERTA students?: Do not ever let someone tell you that you can’t do something. You can do anything if you put the hard work into it! Nothing comes easy, but when you work for it you will see you can accomplish beyond your wildest dreams.
