Alumni Spotlight – Christopher Berggren
Occupation: Clinical Administrative Support Specialist at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute
Year(s) you were in ALERTA: 3 years (includes Summer and School-year components)
School while you were in ALERTA: John Marshall and James Hennigan
Greatest ALERTA Memory: Going on a field trip on a marine biology boat and getting to see (and touch) all sorts of marine life.
Worst ALERTA Memory: Having to get up so early in the Summer (that says a lot when THAT’S the worst memory I could think of).
How has ALERTA contributed to yourlife (personally, professionally, academically, etc.): It has contributed in more ways than you might imagine. It built up confidence in me, to know that I could do what I put my mind to. It helped me transition into the TAG program, which continued helping me throughout high school. Many of the friends and teachers that I met during ALERTA and TAG I still know and would never have met had I not participated in ALERTA.
What advice would you give to our current ALERTA students: Never give up in what you believe in, and never think that you’re unable to do something. If you put forth the time and effort, it will be worth it in the end.
