Still Time to Register for a Summer Internship

Interns Wanted ImageInternships are the perfect way for students to put instructional design theory into practice through work with an industry, educational organization or non-profit.  An internship can also help students evaluate career goals and network with people in the instructional design field.   There are two exciting opportunities for students seeking an internship over the summer!  One opportunity is with the May Institute, a non-profit that provides direct services to individuals with autism.  The May Institute is seeking interns who will work closely with the Director of Training & Development as an instructional designer.  The intern will develop instructional materials for existing and new training modules that address compliance training and management/supervisory development.  This position is ideal for students who are interested in getting practical experience working in organizational development and training.  The second opportunity is with the Massachusetts Department of Revenue as an elearning intern.  This position offers full-time hours and a stipend.  The intern will be responsible for developing elearning with Massachusetts Tax subject matter experts.

Time is running out to register for the summer!  Students looking to intern should start the procedure for enrollment as soon as possible.  You must have successfully completed at least six Instructional Design Graduate courses (601, 602, 604, 618, plus 2 electives) and receive permission from the ID Interim Program Director prior to enrollment.  Internships require 8-10 hours per week of work, regular meetings with the internship faculty advisor and the completion of an internship portfolio.  Interested students can go to the Instructional Design Graduate Student Handbook’s “Jobs and Internships” page to learn more about available internship opportunities, requirements and enrollment procedure.
