Exciting Opportunity!!!  Xpitax is looking for seasonal interns to help us prepare individual tax returns during the 2020 Busy Season.  If you are studying Accounting as a Grad or Undergrad Student at UMass Boston and looking for a paid internship, please see below for more details.

Many firms battle time constraints during the busy season and struggle with low utilization in the off-season. Experienced Xpitax tax professionals are trained to prepare quality returns, helping you reduce busy season burnout, increase customer satisfaction, and optimize profitability.

Working with a global team of tax preparers in Quincy, you will be introduced to multiple Tax Preparation Software programs such as ProFX, Axcess and Lacerte.  Xpitax is looking for students who can work a minimum of 20-30 hours beginning February 3rd and up to 40-50 hours between March 15th and April 15th, with flexibility. Hours are based on workflow each week.

Graduate Student Teaching Opportunity

Unique opportunity to get paid teaching experience on the UMass Boston campus. The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) is seeking master’s and doctoral students to teach a 5-6 week, non-credit course in their area of study or area of interest (1.5 hours per week). OLLI is a lifelong learning program for adults 50 and older at UMass Boston. Part of the Gerontology Institute at the John W. McCormack Graduate School of Policy and Global Studies, OLLI has over 1,100 retired and semi-retired members who are enthusiastic and motivated learners. Teaching with OLLI is an excellent way to develop your own course and engage with a friendly audience, receiving guidance and mentorship along the way. Upon completion of teaching the course with positive student evaluations, instructors will receive a $500 stipend

Applications to teach during OLLI’s 2020 spring semester (March – May) are due by November 4, 2019. Designed to bring together Accounting and Finance employer panelists with UMass Boston students and alumni from the College of Management. Panelists will include recruiting representatives from Ernst &Young and PriceWaterhouseCoopers. They will share important career and internship information with the UMass Boston community. This will include career opportunities in Tax, Audit, Advisory, Forensic Accounting, IT Advisory, and more.

Panelist will provide a brief overview of their career path and advice on career opportunities with their organization. After, we will open the program to networking between the panelists and UMass Boston students and alumni.

18th Annual Changing the Face of Leadership Lunch

The UMass Boston Center for Collaborative Leadership hosted the 18th annual Changing the Face of Leadership Luncheon on June 14, 2019 at the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library.

Each year, the center hosts a luncheon to commemorate the graduation of the fellows in our Emerging Leaders Program and bring together the leaders of our region from the corporate, nonprofit, and government sectors. During the luncheon, the center also be awarded certificates to participants in the 2019 Master Class series on Effective Communication. Also honored was Georgianna Melendez as this year’s Leading the Way award recipient.

The Center for Collaborative Leadership was established in 2001 in the College of Management at the University of Massachusetts Boston. The center has more than 15 years of experience convening future leaders from the corporate, nonprofit, and government sectors and immersing them in the collaborative leadership model – a process built on teamwork, trust, and respect for diversity of thought.

 

Summer 2019 Open House: June 13th, 2019 from 3:00-6:00PM. 

The Graduate Programs Office is hosting an open house! This is a casual event, where you’ll have the opportunity to meet the Graduate Programs team, have all of your questions answered by our advisors, as well connect with other incoming students. We welcome all candidates who have yet to apply, in addition to those who have been accepted for the Fall 2019 semester, it’s a great time to visit campus!
