International Entrepreneurs – March 8th – Venture Development Center – 3:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M.

A panel consisting of an International Entrepreneur, Costas Boussios (former F-1 student), and an immigration attorney, Elizabeth Goss, will address the topic of becoming and International Entrepreneur while addressing the many questions often posed by entrepreneurial-minded international students who would like to become entrepreneurs in the U.S.

The focus of this panel discussion will be on students in OPT status who would like to continue working as entrepreneurs and need to transition to worker status upon completion of OPT (H-1B status).  Once students transition to H-1B status employment opportunities become more limited.  Costas Boussios and Elizabeth Goss will discuss ways to manage the bridge between student and worker status as an entrepreneur.  A sample of questions that will be addressed (not exhaustive):

As an F-1 student can I start a business in the U.S.?

Can I continue as business owner while on H-1B?

How will my employment opportunities change when I transition from F-1 to H-1B status?

Can I operate an online business?

Can I operate a business in my home country while in the U.S.?

What’s the difference between passive and active income?

Come to this workshop to learn more –  bring your questions!!!!

If interested in attending, RSVP to isss@umb.edu.
