The Department of Management Science and Information Systems is seeking a motivated and responsible graduate assistant (GA). In addition to the financial compensation, the GA will have an opportunity to develop skills in research and to earn a letter of recommendation.

The College of Management is seeking 2 Graduate Assistants to work 4.5 hours a week in the Writing Resource Center. Qualified candidates should possess strong written and verbal communication skills, experience with proof reading and editing written documents as well as exceptional ability to convey personal knowledge of subject matter to students in a fundamental and supportive manner.
Schedule flexibility is preferred. Strong candidates will have familiarity with teaching expository writing, computer literacy, and a willingness to work with others.

MGT & MKT 2: SERC
Job description: Helping with some administrative work related to Center for Sustainable Enterprise and Regional Competitiveness (SERC) events. Conducting primary and secondary research, analyzing data and writing case studies. Another part of the work may include designing a survey and analyzing the data, supplemented by in-person interviews and preparing summaries with key points. In addition, every week the GA will be expected to update the SERC Green Internship Program by identifying new green jobs and internships posted in the Career Services Database (for more information about the program see www.umb.edu/serc/internships). The GA may be asked to help with paper and exam grading.
Job requirements:
- search journal articles using the library database, Google scholar, and other sources.
- some experience and knowledge of survey design and analysis, SurveyMonkey platform

Job Description: The GA will assist in the preliminary research of a professor and will be more than likely to create databases of research and citation material using the UMB Library databases and EndNote software. In addition to helping with research material, the GA will help edit and review Academic Papers, prepare material for undergraduate and/or graduate level courses, and review and edit any necessary academic related material needed.
Job Requirements: It will be necessary for the GA to have the ability to edit and review academic journals in a publishing standard and have interest in the research field. Decent computer proficiency is welcomed. This GA position will benefit anyone interested in learning about the academic environment and pursuing a career in research.

Postings for open GA positions for the Fall 2013/Spring 2014 academic year will go up on the CM Grad Blog over the next few weeks. Please follow instructions carefully, and check the Blog regularly as new posts will go up over the next few weeks.

GA MGT position 7:
Job Description: The GA will assist a professor in a fast developing and interesting stream of research work on business and economic inequality in society. This will be an opportunity for the GA to develop their own research skills and knowledge in an important area. It is ideally suited to students looking for future studies/career in research, but might also appeal to other graduate students looking to get some research experience. The tasks will consist of working with the professor to : (i) review academic literature and (ii) identify themes in journal articles on this topic.
Job Requirements:
Excellent English language skills, particularly reading comprehension, to read and summarize key points from academic journal articles, and categorize them into relevant themes (as instructed by professor).
Some background in academic research projects and familiarity with academic journal articles is desirable.
Being highly organized, focused, paying attention to detail, and having a professional work ethic is essential for success in this position.
