Bloomberg: UPDATE – Hours of Operation

As of this Fall semester, the Bloomberg training room has been relocated to the Healey Library. The new room provides a more spacious environment as well as additional Bloomberg terminals. See below for details provided by the CM UMass Bloomberg  Team, and be sure to view the attached Introduction to Bloomberg for those wanting to learn more about the benefits of using this training, and you can also read more from a recent article on The Point, UMB’s news publication.

1. Bloomberg/New Technology Lab is located at the 3rd floor of Healey Library (#3-008, behind the IT help desk): 12 Bloomberg terminals in use.

2. If you are interested in Bloomberg program, please send a request to bloombergcm@gmail.com for the password to Bloomberg terminal.

3. Current Operation hours:

1.    The Bloomberg sign-up is available at https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AjatOlIAVHy6dENrVUZDWUFJdVV5OUlNazR1X280eUE#gid=0

2.    The sign up slots are for 1 hour. Please do not sign up more than 2 slots each day. Bloomberg terminal is in great demand this semester. Be considerate, in case you cannot show up; please email us at BloombergCM@gmail.com, or remove your reservation from the sign-up sheet at your earliest convenience.

3.    The key to the room and the sign-up sheet are located at the reception desk of the College of Management. You will need Student ID to take the key, after you sign up.

4.    The key MUST be returned before the next person uses. The Bloomberg room CANNOT be left open and unattended. Following the sign-in and sign-out protocol is a safeguard in that direction. Please do not hand over the key to the next person. Please ask him/her sign it out personally.

5.    The Bloomberg room is operational from 9 am to 6 pm on all weekdays, starting from February 1, 2012.

6.    For each weekend, we may accommodate 2 reservations. The reservations should be made by Thursday, and people should leave their ID to the reception desk of College of Management by Friday. The last person who uses the room should put the key into the Drop Box by Sunday. Please ask the receptionist, if you don’t know where it is.

a)    He/she that signs up for Saturday should pick up the key at 5 pm on Friday and give the key to the next person by 5 pm on Saturday. If no one signs up for Sunday, he/she should put the key into the Drop Box by Sunday.

b)    He/she signs up for Sunday should pick up the key from the previous person by 5 pm on Saturday, and put the key into the Drop Box by Sunday. If no one signs up for Saturday, then he or she should pick up the key at 5 pm on Friday instead.

c)    These two people should establish consensus regarding how to transfer the key, and have shared responsibility to make sure the room is locked and the key is safe.

Bloomberg – New sign up process / instructions

Students looking to utilize the Bloomberg room should first navigate to the link below to sign up:

This is a shared file through Google Docs, so it is possible to see availability in real-time, making it a better solution to the previous Doodle  system.

This new link will be posted to the webpage of Bloomberg on the department website by early next week.

Bloomberg Room Operations Procedure

Bloomberg Room Operation Procedure

(Room #: 403, McCormick 5th floor)

 

1.        The Bloomberg signup is available at http://doodle.com/a85knru6zssbm2ab . In this first phase, the sign up slots are for 30 minutes. You are able to choose not more than 2 slots each time. Please be mindful and do not sign up for consecutive slots. Be considerate, in case you cannot show up; please email us at BloombergCM@gmail.com so we can reassign your slot.

 

2.        The key to the room and a sign up sheet will sit in Effie’s office (near Dean’s office).You will need to sign up on the signup sheet (name and time) when you take the key to use the terminal.

 

3.        The key MUST be retuned and (i.e., signed off) before the next person uses the room – i.e., signs up for the key. This room CANNOT be left open and unattended. Following the sign-in and sign-out protocol is a safeguard in that direction. Please do not hand over the key to the next person – let him/her sign it out personally. 

 

4.        The Bloomberg room will be operational from 10 am to 9 pm on all weekdays except on Thursdays, when it will be operational from 10 am to 5 pm, starting from March 21, 2011. Also, 4-6 pm during the weekday will be assigned as free time when you are able to stop by to use Bloomberg terminal without appointment.

 

5.        You will have to make a request at BloombergCM@gmail.com for weekend use. These requests must be in by 5 pm on Thursday of the week you want to use the room. We will inform you by Friday if we can accommodate your request.

 

6.        All the information about Bloomberg will be updated on the blog of Graduate College of Management. http://blogs.umb.edu/gradcm/ You can check it to see the news about Bloomberg.

 

7.        Please take full advantage of the Bloomberg terminal and get certified. You can ONLY take the test once you have watched all the 4 videos. So, you need to watch all the 4 videos from your login only.
