CM Forum: Patricia A. Brady ‘87 on Emotional Intelligence (EI)

Ms. Brady will provide an overview of Emotional Intelligence (EI) ,  give examples of how she has applied the EI construct with clients in the private and public sectors, and engage attendees in a discussion about the relevance of EI in the current business environment.

Bio
Patricia A. Brady, BS Management summa cum laude 1987 from UMass Boston and an MS from MIT, retired in 2006 as Senior Project Director for the Executive Vice President at MIT. Patricia then launched a private consulting practice, focused on clients wanting to develop better-functioning organizations, enabled by strong leadership.  She has been recognized by clients and colleagues alike as a down-to-earth and seasoned professional with the demeanor, experience, and knowledge to be effective in helping individuals, teams, and organizations improve performance.

The knowledge and skills Patricia brings to her clients were developed and honed during a career spanning twenty years holding leadership roles both in higher education administration at MIT and in government. She has professional certification in emotional intelligence practices sanctioned by the HayGroup through collaboration with leading academics in organizational and behavioral psychology.

Ms. Brady is a Director and member of the Audit Committee of Stoneham Cooperative Bank d/b/a StonehamBank in Stoneham, MA and serves on the Board of Directors for the Grafton County (NH) Senior Citizens Council, a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to enable independent living among senior citizens and people with disabilities  Among professional activities, Patricia was elected and served two years (2004-05) on the policy board of the National Consortium for Continuous Improvement in Higher Education (NCCI). She served as the Chair of the Selection Committee for NCCI’s Leveraging Excellence Award for two years.

While at UMB, Ms Brady was named a Truman Scholar in 1985.    She and her husband Daniel live in Haverhill, NH where for fun, she paddles a kayak, quilts, and whacks a golf ball (but not all at the same time).
