Interviews “Do white privilege exists”

Discrimination has held Hispanics and Black’s Americans back and this has priviledge white. We all experience discrimination for various things. White people are taking for granted many things that others are not given the courtesy of having. Some white people might feel that being white is not always a benefit to them. But some of the people that I interview believe that it is.  I do not agree that because people of my color/race were abused in the past we still need to be abused today.

After interviewing my three people and getting the information from them I learned that we as Hispanic feel the same when it comes to white privilege, One of them said to me that blacks are being judged even by the way they dress this dates. They are always labeled as gangster because of the baggy clothes, I find it really unfair that blacks are being labeled that way. Hispanics and Blacks have always being labeled as minority and whites have been privileged out of that. Most white people don’t have a dominant heritage but are a good mix of a lot and are not labeled as minority why are we? Even that I am minority I am proud to be Hispanic and I know that others feel the same way. But for many years blacks and Hispanics have been denied rights and dignity.

Another point that was mention in the interview was that sometimes when a bunch of people apply for jobs people with the white sounding names are chosen more often than people with black sounding names. Blacks and Hispanics has disadvantage in seeking for apartments to rent, applying for jobs etc..but white’s don’t face that kind of discrimination. White’s don’t need to feel that they are being limited by opportunities in society because of their race, they can excel their full potential.

Another person said the following, The treatment of any service of any kind is different to blacks than to whites. Blacks many times goes to a restaurant and been waiting for an hour and a white person got there 5 minutes ago and got served before the blacks. She said, yes white privilege exist in America, there are many situations that can support that, for example when white’s are arrested they are less likely to be charged, less likely to be convicted. Racism isnt’t extinct.
