Dissertation Research: The Educational Experience of African Immigrants

My name is Gifty, and I am a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Sociology at UMass Boston. I am starting a research study for my dissertation focused on the high school experiences of African immigrant youth enrolled in high school or who attended a high school in Massachusetts.

The purpose of this research is to understand this population’s educational experiences in their home country and in the United States and how to best support them. Participation is voluntary. To participate, you have to complete a 10-minute survey and a telephone interview. The telephone interview will take up to 1 hour.

  • How long will this take: Up to 1 hour
