The Sages’ Symposium, a multi-day virtual event, took place in October, 2020. The 3-day event consisted of Keynotes, presentations, and active discussions aimed to bring together researchers and older adults to expand opportunities for engaged research.
The Symposium was able to:
- Bring researchers and older adults with care needs together
- Review the benefits and obstacles of engaged research
- Support researchers’ readiness to conduct engaged research
- Identify new partnership opportunities
- Share tools and resources

Sages’ Symposium Funder
A Eugene Washington PCORI Engagement Award EAIN-00060 funds the Sages’ Symposium to Expand Researcher Readiness as a LeadingAge LTSS Center, Collective Insight, and CJE partnership. This award was selected through a highly competitive review process in which applications were assessed for their ability to meet PCORI’s engagement goals, objectives, and program criteria. PCORI is an independent, non-profit organization authorized by Congress in 2010 (reauthorized in 2019) to fund comparative effectiveness research that will provide patients, their caregivers, and clinicians with the evidence needed to make better-informed health and healthcare decisions. PCORI is committed to seeking input from a broad range of stakeholders to guide its work.
