Just under six months and counting until the 1919 Boston Police Strike centennial!
Our next meet-up is scheduled for Friday, March 22, 2019, at UMass Boston to review the progress of the 1919 Boston Police Strike Project and to share next steps for the coming months. Our 2019 monthly calendar of volunteer researcher meet-ups is in full swing and we look forward to a great session next week.
This month, we are very pleased to have Joanne Riley, Interim Dean of University Libraries and co-founder of the 1919 Boston Police Strike Project return to address our group about “life after 1,140.” Joanne will introduce the reviewing phase of our project, explain the reviewer role and touch on the nuances and challenges of problem-solving the bio worksheet in this next phase. Many of you are already working as reviewers and we welcome your participation. We’ll also present new research tips and tricks around working with photographs, field each other’s general questions, and update you on progress regarding the upcoming stages of the project (reviewing, data entry, biographical profiles, and 2019 culminating event planning).
Please note that we will be meeting in a different location: Healey Library, 5th floor, Archives Research Room.
All current volunteers are welcome, including those in the process of taking the online training course. Coffee and light refreshments will be served.
