Hello, this is my second post about “smart mobs”

often called the next “social revolution,” smart mobs bring people together through technology, as shown in 2010 in Vienna, Austria in the photo above. Smart mobs often connect people thru a common cause, often signaled by use of texting or mass e-mails or social networks.  They can bring some peace and tranquility, but in my opinion.. sometimes spark violence. In NY Times article from 2002, I read  “ Miss World eruption in Nigeria was triggered partly by texting: angry Muslims used their phones to pass on news of an article praising the pageant. Within days, more than 200 people had been killed.” Although smart mobbing was not directly the cause of death, the riots started because of the initial mass text messages that were sent out to people. Although texting and smart mobs can bring people together for good causes, they can also bring people together for bad ones. We have to realize how powerful technology is and if we can use it in a beneficial way, great. However, we need to watch out for quickly information can spread.
